We normally try to bring you the best of the tournament scene, but in this
issue of “Tournament Tracker,” we forget our newsletter’s
name and cover everything Boat Show! Many
in the marine industry have high expectations from this year’s “FLIBS” (that’s what us
industry insiders call the show). And
so do we! We’ll
be looking for the best gadgets, boats, motors and technology.
Sea Vee – Caught Lounging on the Job
Sea Vee is
known for their high-end fishing machines. Earlier this year at the Miami Show, their
new 390 stole the show. The behemoth
of an open-fisherman was sporting the newly introduced 300-Verdaos. Now, the design crew at Sea Vee has outdone themselves again by introducing the new
390 LE.
I am not sure what the LE stands for. Maybe “Lounge
Edition” or “Luxury Edition.”
I was thinking it could stand for “Lay-out and Eat”
or “Leave me alone while I Enjoy my bad ass boat.” Whatever it stands for
this is one impressive machine. I
managed to sneak a few picture of it while they were setting up at the show. One thing I can assure you is that these
photos do not do it justice. Sea Vee will be at the
Convention Center.

The BEST looking Express Ever Designed!
OK, it’s only my opinion,
but you’d have the same thing to say if you saw it in person. The New Rivera 48 Express is a marvel of
design and technology. Based on Rivera’s
tried and tested 47 S2 Flybridge, the hull delivers
the softest and driest of rides. With
available 1015HP diesels, this thing will also run like a bat out of hell. The boat sleeps 4-6 adults with 2 staterooms
and 2 heads. Stop by the Riviera display
at Bahia Mar and check out this beauty.
Yamaha Announces New F300 V8 Outboard
Yamaha
Marine Group announced it will offer a 300-horsepower outboard based on the
V8 5.3-liter, four-stroke Yamaha F350. Called the F300, the new outboard fills
a niche in the marketplace for single and twin applications.
The F300 is for boats with transoms that are limited to 300 or 600 horsepower
-- boats that need a lot of thrust but not all the power of an F350.
Like the Yamaha F350, the new F300 gets all the latest Yamaha technology,
such as:
• Ionic combustion sensors that constantly monitor combustion
conditions and adjust spark timing;
• A dimpled outer cylinder sleeve to reduce oil consumption; the new
Enhanced Ultimate Corrosion Protection System (UCP-II™)
with additional sacrificial anodes;
• An innovative internal paint process and new-generation head gaskets;
• Yamaha’s Command LinkŪ Digital Electronic Control system with
redundant electronic engine control, automatic multi-engine synchronization
and electronic throttle and shift.
Exclusive features include:
• Operates using 87 octane gasoline rather than 89
• Fuel and ignition maps designed to optimize power using lower octane
gasoline
• Available in February 2008.

RUMOR MILL ~ RUMOR MILL ~ RUMOR MILL
Hot on the heels
of Yamaha’s announcement of their new 300-HP 4-stroke, the fishing and
boating forums lit up with rumors of a Mercury Verado 350 based on the same
block as the 200-300 HP Models.
I called some of my contacts at Mercury and none of
them would confirm or deny the rumor. It’s
just my luck too. My new boat is
almost finished and now there may be 350’s available.
BOAT
STATUS
My new boat hit a
snag last month, but it is back on track.
It will be ready for the 2007 Sailfish Kickoff at Monty’s in the
Grove. Make sure you check out the
boat at the dock an take it for a sea trial. We also
got the RGB-LED light in (finally!) Check out this quick video showing the capabilities
of the lights: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNeig_l3mag
(If the video link does not work, go to www.YouTube.com and search for “aalbelo”)
