 When I first started writing and sending out “Tournament Tracker” I promised myself that I would not be abusive with the newsletter.  I limited myself to one issue a month.  Events this week have caused me to write back-to-back issues.  But in the end, I believe that this second, unscheduled issue contains very important information for all. – Tony

BAHAMAS ANNOUNCES NEW REGS!
We’ve been asking for them and now the Bahamas Fisheries and Tourism departments have answered.  Below are excerpts from their October 19th document.  I know, the 19th?  Is this a typo?  Nope, we just got it a few days ago. Enjoy!

·         Migratory species such as Wahoo, Kingfish, Tuna or Dolphin shall NOT exceed (18) fish (previously six) aboard the vessel at any one time.

·         Billfish species (Marlin, Sailfish, or Swordfish) caught shall be released unharmed except where landed under the terms of an approved sportfishing event or tournament.

·         In an effort to further protect our marine resources, the new regulations state that NO vessel shall have on board at anytime:

o        Marine turtles

o        More than six (6) conch

o        More than 10 (10) crawfish

o        More than sixty (60) pounds or twenty (20) fish whichever being the greater of scale fish per vessel (previously 20 lbs)

BAHAMAS WAHOO CHALLENGE IS ON!
Tropical Storm Noel really put a damper on this weekend’s scheduled Bahamas Wahoo Challenge.  But don’t fret, we are still on for next week Nov 8-11. We saw the advisories late on Saturday morning and we made the call to move it back one week. We came into the office on Sunday, updated the website and personally called each team to inform them of the decision.  All the teams but one are on for next week and we picked up a few new ones to boot.  This is a blessing in disguise. We continue to “do it right.”  A team captain wrote:

Thanks Tony for a good, solid, and early call.  more directors should have the balls to make decisions so that a lot of people's lives and plans are not put on hold.

 

I wasn't even aware until last night that we had a storm brewing - I was focused all weekend on getting boat prep done and drinking too many beers at the boatshow.

 

I need to check with the rest of my crew, but myself and the boat are available next weekend, and the wife granted another pass.  I will keep you updated in the next few days, but for now, count us in.  If, for some reason we can't make it, I will speak to you immediately.  A lot of the wanna be tournament directors ought to read your book.....
