No one caught the Million-Dollar Sailfish, but teams walked away with plenty
of money. “Wound Up” took
1st place and over $90,000! “L&H”
took 2nd place and also won the Dewar’s 12
Billfish Championship with stellar performances in the FYI Sailfish Kickoff
and the Sea Vee / Mercury Mayor’s Cup. The tournament also had its most successful
P/R campaign with stories by the Associated Press, and news agencies all over

Miami Boat Show RECAP
Every year, we all wait for the big show.
It hits the town like a hurricane; and it feels like it. The buzz of the show was “Bigger is
Better.” Mercury introduced their new 300hp Verado which is the same weight as their 225/250/275 so
the power-to-weight ratio is incredible.
The motor also saw a design tweak which gives the engine a
“cleaner” look. Mercury also showed off the new 4 cylinder 200hp Verado and 1200hp I/O. Yamaha
introduced their 350 V8 outboard. This
impressive engine weighs in at over 800 pounds, but still offers a great
power-to-weight ratio. Both engines
will be available this summer.
We also
saw the debut of Contender’s 38
Express. With two staterooms and great
performance this is the ultimate island hopper. Add to this standard A/C and
generator and you’ll never need a hotel again.
 The darling of the show was the
new 39 Sea Vee. A true open fisherman, the 390 has
introduced an entire bank of new features.
Pneumatic slide-out cooler, hatches, and console door all operate with
the flick of a switch. The new
integrated and hidden bow seats and rear jump seats were created from the
ground-up. The hinges and mechanisms
were all newly designed specifically for these applications; nothing off the
shelf here. With triple and quad
engine setups the 390 is a beast. Sea Vee did their homework on this one and it shows.
